Turn off the world, turn on the pages: the University of Macerata relaunches the “Silenziando” Silent Reading Party with Adrian N. Bravi and Giacomo Palazzesi
Following the great success of previous events, the University of Macerata Library System announces a new edition of “Silenziando: Silent Reading Party in the Library.”
The event will take place on Tuesday 10 November, from 5.30 pm to 8.00 pm, in the Sala Sbriccoli at the University Teaching Library (Piazza Oberdan, 4).
A ‘Digital Detox’ and breathing ritual designed to offer a respite for relaxation and the rediscovery of individual reading, the event invites participants to disconnect from the digital frenzy and the demanding autumn term: on arrival, attendees are asked to switch off or silence their mobile phones so they can immerse themselves in a session of pure reading.
A special interlude: literature and music. The big new feature of this year’s event will enhance the interval dedicated to socialising. During the 6.30 pm interlude, the writer Adrian N. Bravi will read a selection of passages from his new book "Trilogia delle ossessioni" (published by Nutrimenti), accompanied by Giacomo Palazzesi on the guitar. Afterwards, there will be a short tea break for participants to chat and exchange views on the books they have chosen.
The golden rule remains the same: no textbooks or exam revision guides. Each participant is invited to bring a work of fiction, popular non-fiction or a graphic novel. For those who do not have one, the library will provide a trolley with suggestions and recommendations for reading ‘off the beaten track’.
The event forms part of the celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of Edizioni Università di Macerata. The first attendees will receive complimentary books from the EUM series and a pack containing the event’s official bookmark.
