Wednesday, May 27, 5:30 PM · Sala Sbriccoli, University Teaching Library
The University Library System and EUM (Edizioni Università di Macerata) invite students and citizens to an experience of well-being and collective reading.
On Wednesday, May 27, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM, the Sala Sbriccoli of the Teaching Library (Piazza Oberdan, 4) will transform into an oasis of silence and relaxation.
The initiative, titled “SSS…Silenziando”, was created to offer a rejuvenating break from the stress of the summer exam session. The golden rule is simple: turn off the world and turn on the pages. Participants are asked to bring a leisure book (fiction, pop non-fiction, or graphic novels—strictly no textbooks) and to silence their cell phones upon entry.
The Program for May 27:
-
17:30: Welcome and device drop-off for a digital detox.
-
17:45: First individual reading session in absolute silence.
-
18:30: Social Sharing: informal chats and a small, themed aperitivo.
-
19:00: Second immersive reading session.
To celebrate EUM's 20th anniversary, the first participants will receive complimentary volumes from the publisher's collections and a special commemorative bookmark. If you don't have a book with you, don't worry: you will find a cart with "off-the-beaten-path" reading suggestions ready for you.
