EUM Edizioni Università di Macerata has joined the Association of European University Presses, a network that brings together the publishing houses of many prestigious European universities.
‘Joining the AEUP is an important step in the growth of the publishing house and in its promotion outside the local context,’ says EUM President Simona Antolini. ‘The strengthening of international networks in relation to research and high-level scientific dissemination increases the attractiveness of EUM publications and reinforces the European dimension that characterises our university.’
Founded in 2010, AEUP is an organisation of publishing houses affiliated with universities and academic institutions. The association's mission is to improve the visibility of its members and facilitate collaboration, share knowledge and achieve common goals in the world of scientific publishing. All publications by member University Presses can be included in a common catalogue that can be consulted via the ScienceOpen platform.
The association currently has 50 members from 18 countries. Among the Italian members, alongside EUM, are Bolzano University Press, Firenze University Press, Milano University Press and RomaTrE Press.
The first meeting took place in Vienna on 22 and 23 May, when the Macerata-based publishing house had the opportunity to meet the other members during the 4th conference “Sustaining the Flow: Keeping the Pages Turning in Scholarly Publishing”. In particular, publishers, researchers, librarians and industry experts explored the challenges and opportunities of academic publishing and outlined possible paths to create a more sustainable publishing ecosystem.
