The social, cultural and linguistic aspects connected with contemporary migrations are at the core of the essays collected in this volume, of an international and interdisciplinary character. Scholars confront each other in literary, linguistic, sociolinguistic and sociological contexts on linguistic-cultural contacts, expressions of a society that, despite their critical aspects, shows a continuous dynamism.
In Italy, as in many other countries, multi-linguism becomes a vehicle for reconstructing identity and contributing to the birth of new citizens, based on a multiple identity in and through the Italian language-culture.
According to different critical methodologies, the linguistic, literary and textual spaces of the Italian language, its linguistic-cultural intersections, and the intergenerational transmission of origin languages and cultures are therefore examined.
