Il Trovatore is based on the libretto of Il Trovatore by Salvadore Cammarano, Leone Emanuele Bardare.
“The real main character of the story that you will read in this text is Fire. Although Fire is not a person, it is present in all the main scenes of this story, entitled Il trovatore. Moreover it sheds light on all the events that slowly emerge. Who is Il trovatore? Does anybody know anything? Actually, no! Many years ago, il trovatore was the person who, in the throes of passion, sang poems to his lover, accompanied by music.
Manrico is our Trovatore, and he fell in love with a beautiful girl named Leonora. Their strong and deep love is, however, hindered by Conte di Luna, who tries to keep the two lovers apart. There is a gypsy, a fire and a fatal mistake. This story is based on the drama El Trovador by Antonio Garcia Gutiérrez. Giuseppe Verdi, a famous Italian composer, then re-elaborated the story with music and songs as a lyrical opera. This book is intended for children in order to help them understand the opera by explaining the story it tells. This book was illustrated by children, just like you, who had fun by drawing the scenes and characters.
Enjoy yourself!”
