Describing the archives at the time of RIC-CM means interpreting the role and functions of archival description going beyond the static and coercive modes of representation. Here we question what the archives and their representations are about. Convinced that, curious about how our future will be, what we have today is insufficient. A future made of innovative tradition.
Giorgia di Marcantonio graduated cum Laude in Management of Cultural Heritage at the University of Macerata and has been a Teaching Fellow in Archival and Library Science (M-STO/08) since 2016. Her study and research activity is mainly focused on describing archival heritage in relation to information technologies, with particular reference to international archive standards and the models of retrieving the information collected during the heritage description phase. She has collaborated with the State Archives of Macerata and Fermo. She has recently begun to be considered among the most important coordinators of the project “"Il recupero degli archivi nell'area del cratere marchigiano” project.
Federico Valacchi is a full professor of Computer Science at the University of Macerata. Among his current main research interests is the relationship between information technologies and archives. More recently he has been researching the political and social role of archival discipline, defining the concepts of active archival and public archival science.
