The book is a guide through Arthur Schopenhauer’s The World as Will and Representation, a seminal work in philosophy. It systematically presents all the revisions adopted during the 40 years between the first publication and the final one. The study of the various editions and of the Handexemplare (manuscripts where Schopenhauer notes his additions) reveals the importance of matter in this work. It is an expression of will in the phenomenal field, allowing for the transition from a transcendental conception of philosophy to an immanentistic one.
