Records of a study day (26th March 2015, Macerata)
“There are countless elements which connect films and travel. They attract us, catch our attention and, the more we are able to share their intangible value, the more incisively they reach our imagination.
A film is a short journey which can, however, follow us all life long and become an important part of our life. A journey, the experience of a different place, comes back to our minds like a film and reinvents itself.
An audiovisual product can enhance a city, an environment, thus stimulating the connection between the development of interest and tourism. It is also true that the settings can represent a key factor for a film. In any case, we are not talking about subordinating films to the enhancement of settings or vice versa, rather we are talking about taking into consideration, at any level, the positive synergy which a coherent artistic project can develop, the positive effects of mutual enhancement between films and settings, that an accurate production can entail.
The day of study, organised and conducted with passion by Enrico Nicosia, presented an opportunity to deal with the fascinating subject of celluloid city through critical thinking and in-depth analysis, without falling into trivial clichès. Rather, attention was paid to multidisciplinarity while stimulating debate about numerous case studies without the risk of rigid schematization".
