leviedelledonnemarchigiane: non solo toponomastica

This book is a collection of biographies about the women selected within the ambit of the #leviedelledonnemarchigiane project promoted by the “Osservatorio di Genere” and approved by the Women’s Council of the municipality of Macerata. The scope of this social project is to remember important women of the past who were leaders in the society of the Marche region and are worthy of having streets and public spaces named after them. This volume is tied to the initiative to close the gender gap in Italian place names, an initiative promoted by The National Association of Italian Municipalities. This work is also in coordination with Associazione Toponomastica Femminile, the women’s association for name places. Finally, the book presents the proceedings of the seminar entitled “Cultura, memoria e spazi urbani” held at the University of Macerata.

Silvia Alessandrini Calisti is a blogger and communications manager for “Osservatorio di Genere”. Silvia Casilio is a contemporary historian at “Osservatorio di Genere”. Ninfa Contigiani is a researcher specializing in the History of Medieval and Modern Law at the University of Macerata. Claudia Santoni is a member of the Scientific Board of SDG (Associazione Italiana di Sociologia) and president of “Osservatorio di Genere”.
